Can the resonance panel go anywhere other than a corner?

It can be fixed anywhere, and away from a corner it is a much weaker device. This is the one place in the C-ATS range where placement is not a preference: corner loading is the mechanism, so a resonance panel moved out of the corner is not a slightly reduced resonance panel.

The measurement says how much. Tested away from the walls it absorbed roughly 40 % of what the same panels absorbed in the corners at 125 Hz. Against a single wall it recovered to roughly three-quarters. The ladder is a count of boundaries, and the corner is the top rung.

What to do when the corner is genuinely not available

Tell us before the panels go up, not after. Corners get taken by seating risers, screen-wall build, services and joinery, and that is normal. What is not normal is discovering it on site and improvising. Almost always there is another corner working the same axis, a wall–ceiling junction that will do, or a different amount in the corners that remain.

And if the answer is that the room has no usable corners for the axis that is boomy, that is worth knowing early, because the answer then is not a panel at all: it is the wall build or the subwoofer positions, and both are decisions made long before treatment is fitted.

The one thing not to do

Do not spread them along a flat wall to make up the quantity. The count will look right on the order and the room will not behave. The panels are working a pressure field, and a flat wall in the middle of a room is where that field is weakest.
